NPTC Units 201/202 (CS30/31) Combined 5 Day – Chainsaw Maintenance & Felling Small Trees
Combined 5 Day – Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Felling of small trees up to 380mm – NPTC Assessment units 201 and202
5-day Training course followed by 1-day NPTC Assessment
This combined course allows successful candidates to fell trees commercially up to 380mm diameter. The first day is workshop based, covering legislation, risk assessments, basic chainsaw maintenance, chain ID, sharpening and organising site safety.
The next four days take place in the woods and covers starting the saw safely, basic felling cuts, felling trees that lean back slightly, felling trees that lean forward significantly and manual take-down of hung-up trees. For the purpose of this course, the length of the chainsaw bar is usually 15″ (380mm) and the tree will therefore not exceed bar length.
All our courses are run Mon – Friday 9am – 4pm
Days 1-2 are Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting
Days 3 – 5 are Felling techniques
Assessment
The CS30 assessment covers chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting.
- NPTC Unit 201 – Maintenance of the chainsaw and crosscutting
The CS31 assessment contains four compulsory parts:
- NPTC Unit 202 – Felling and Processing of Trees up to 380mm
- Remove branches by appropriate methods
- Crosscut felled trees
- Takedown hung-up trees using hand tools
Cost and booking
Course fee: £1000 (inc VAT & NPTC Assessments)
A VAT exempt assessment is included in the cost.
Maximum 4 people.
Candidates must provide their own PPE
10% discount on net training cost is available if a client provides all 4 trainees for the course.
Felling equipment and saws are available for hire if candidates do not yet have their own equipment. Please contact the office for cost.
Please note if you are bringing your own chainsaw please ensure you have the correct maintenance/sharpening kit and fuel for your saw.
