CS38 & CS39 Tree Climbing Courses
NPTC units 206,306,308
CS38 & CS39: This popular combined tree climbing training course runs the candidate through all of the relevant theoretical and practical aspects that are required to pass NPTC Units 206,306 & 308. Theoretical subjects include equipment selection and inspection, the law relating to tree climbing and tree cutting, tree safety inspections, knots, rescues, first aid and starting and using a chainsaw safely in a tree.
The practical aspects of tree climber training include basic climbing techniques, choice of anchor points, moving around the canopy, branchwalking, rescues, and receiving, starting and using the chainsaw safely.
CS38 (Tree Climbing and Rescue) and CS39 (Using a Chainsaw from Rope and Harness) can be trained for, and assessed separately. The relevant climber training courses run for five and two days respectively.
We run both the individual courses and the 6-day combined course. The split course is targeted at the novice climber, who is new to the industry and will benefit from the extra day training. We follow the CS39 immediately after the CS38 to ensure continuity. Please see our booking page for course dates.
The combined course is for the more experienced climber, with rope management experience and knowledge of the industry.
- CS30 – Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting (NPTC 201 / 202)
- CS31 – Felling Small Trees (NPTC 203)
